Abstract

The environmental issue is one of the great challenges of the 21st century for humanity. Developing environmental awareness based on what is called the ecological ethics of care is both a challenge and a way to find alternatives to environmental aggression and destruction. This value needs to be cultivated, starting in educational institutions, since it is in them that knowledge about this subject is generated. This is possible, especially when curricular components develop this theme and research and extension projects are developed with this focus. In this way, it becomes possible to develop skills, competences and attitudes that generate values that lead to care for the environment. The development of a culture of environmental care is what is observed in a Higher Education Institution in Manaus, which is committed to working on concepts related to the environment, as well as providing opportunities for significant environmental experiences that develop environmental awareness in future professionals. necessary for an effective ecological ethics of care. The research presented in this article with academics from this HEI demonstrates that these objectives are being achieved.
